The Tithe
To be clear from the start - Any person who tells you that God commands everyone to give ten percent of their income to their church, is simply lying!

This statement may (more likely will) offend some people, but I do not apologise for it in any way. It is true! Whether these people are deliberately deceiving their congregations, or they are deceived themselves, I truly do not know. However, the end result is the same - they preach a complete misrepresentation of Scripture! This is not a matter of opinion or denominational doctrine. It is a matter of Scripture, and therefore, a matter of truth!
My intention is to highlight the basics about ‘the tithe’, and put it into context within the whole of Scripture. With many ‘churches’ demanding that their congregations give a tenth of their income (usually a tenth of their gross), it is important to establish what scripture actually says about the practice.
